Re: Hardware Midi Looper

Generalized MIDI looping is hard because of a mismatch in the data.

But lots of sequencers show that overdubbing can work either to add notes
or to add/replace controller information.

So, I would expect a basic MIDI looper to offer on the fly loop length
control, loop doubling/multiply, overdub using essentially the existing
approaches, and either undo/redo or multiple undo. Add in the ability to
save loops and switch between saved loops, and it seems like it could be
pretty useful with various instruments.

One could also optimize for monophonic instruments by treating the
currently playing note essentially the same way continuous controllers are
treated. This could be fun with the current crop of mono analog synths.
