I was going to say yes, but I think no.  Realign will bring the track into 
alignment with 
whatever track is currently the Track Sync Master.  After that they may or 
may not stay
in alignment depending on their sizes.  Through scripting you could have 
each track
remember their original master and restore that before the Realign, but it 
would be
a bit complex to set that up.

Having tracks automatically remember the original track they were synced 
with would not be hard, 
but it does raise some UI issues, you would need a way to see what you're 
syncing with.
I would probably make this a settable track parameter so you could change 
it on the fly.

What would make this more complicated is how sticky this master assignment 
would be.
If you reset a slave track and rerecord it for example, does it keep 
syncing with the first
master or does it sync with the current master.  If the former, then 
forces you to think
more about how you're grouping tracks 1-3 sync with 1, 4-6 sync with 4, 
etc.  I can
see some advantages to that but it does make tracks a bit more rigid in 
how they can interact.

Jeff, really I'm interested in how users can work with the existing tools
to find the best way to handle sync (or other issues for that matter).

The trick I learned with the LP1, for instance, was born out of necessity,
as a user. (i.e. set track as master so it won't sync to another loop).
I don't think I would have thought of this at all from a design point of 
view.
