Re: what is the state of things with pedals these days?

No sync on the Timeline but it seems that the Pigtronix Infinity looper offers midi sync and they advertise it working great in sync with Ableton. I haven’t tried one but if it works as advertised that will be something I would love to have down the road.

Timeline looper does not sync, FYI.

I've not had a chance to explore this properly (my manual reading head is used up at work all day) but I believe that it can be accomplished using the Oz sidecar pedal.

The site says "MIDI IN merges and actively filters incoming MIDI data for optimal TimeLine synchronization and performance" and I have used it with a program changer in.

I am certain I read about it in an interview somewhere as one of the things that had been "turned on" by the Oz sidecar: I don't have any non-computer MIDI clock thingie to try, and my computers are in work-mode crunching things.  I'll try to get around to seeing how it works, but it will take a while.

NB: Yes, I keep mentioning this thing, but I'm not a salesperson for MV, have no vested interest etc: I really really love their stuff, and have for of their pedals.
Bill is the nicest bloke to deal with and will make bespoke MIDI pedals if you ask nicely. He made me my "gracenote" sidecar for the Digitech Whammy DT to send really fast up+down or down+up at a tone and a semitone for playing bits in thumb pianos that are otherwise impossible.

The Timeline is the only other stereo on the market that could possibly take the place of my Timefactor because of that expanded loop capability, and pre/post delay option, but if it can't hand giving or receiving midi clock that would probably be a deal breaker for me.
