to play with a "two hands - two musicians" attitude.
that's what i tried to escape by going through a single side instrument, in my case, a tsg-8 from warr guitars. the instrument has the same range (if not larger, when tuned in fifths) than a 10/12s one. with the actual loop tools, you could sound like 1000, if you wish! :) ... i don't see much difference between 1 or 2, but 1000 !!! that's another thing.
When I picked up the Stick I first thought my guitar playing skills
(developed through decades) would be a bonus,
... i've observed the contrary quite often too. don't know about how's development after the first stages of learning the two-handed method, if you come from the guitar (i used to play piano, sax before, so...) but, initially, on the majority of g. players, you can observe them trying to have most of the work done with the left hand (providing they were right handed;).
I bé, després estava aquella dona que sense saber que estava il.luminada, exclamava: "O siga, que he pagat per aquesta merda de màquina i resulta que ni tan sols em diu si sóc un Buda o no, òsties!, no podien posar-li una agulla , o que pitara, o alguna cosa així? "
