For the record, I have taken the better advice here and reverted to direct 
MIDI passing Note On / Note Off pair thru live to Echoloop VST. I figured 
the closer I am to the creator's intent, the better off I'll be :) Also 
seemed better to have all my commands in my controller rather than tied to 
mapped Ableton set files.
