No it won't mess up anything. You're basically just turning off a new security layer most people felt was the absolute worst thing about Windows Vista. I completely disabled UAC (User Access Control) in Vista. It got a little better in Windows 7, what we're
doing here is disabling it for selected programs. They'll be allowed to run as they did under Windows XP, so if they were well behaved under XP they'll be well behaved under 8. The only security related thing I recommend not doing is changing folder permissions
in system folders like c:\Program Files. Windows 7 added something called "junctions" which can get messed up if you tinker with system folder permissions. So if you can't get to a file, raise the security level of the program rather than lowering the security
level of the files. I don't think you will have a problem with this as long as you have Run as administrator on.
