Re: Switching Echoloop VST Params Using Ableton Dummy Clips
Still more dirt than fun - !
True: Return tracks (indeed any "Audio To" menu) can see the MIDI track when Mobius is in it. The "Audio To" menu now contains 3 options: Left In 2 - Mobius 2; Left In 3 - Mobius 2; and Left In 4 - Mobius 2.
Regardless of which is selected in the Return track's "Audio To" menu, the Mobius instance in my MIDI track does not receive audio.
I tested the same config in an Audio track, and Mobius receieves audio from the Return track perfectly.
SO: to recap: in order to escape the computer and move all interaction to physical controllers, I want to create a pushbutton solution to govern certain parameters normally governed by CControls. That is not possible with standard MIDI learn in the host; it is partially possible with Clip Envelopes, but they are relative in nature and will fall apart quickly during use; and it is completely doable with Echoloop in a MIDI track, and using MIDI Clip Envelopes, which are absolute in nature and allow exactly the kind of control I seek. The challenge now is getting Echoloop to hear audio while sitting in such a MIDI track. This is impossible on its face, as Echoloop is invisible to "Audio To" menus when sitting in a MIDI track. But, Mobius IS visible to "Audio To" menus when sitting in a MIDI track, and could pass audio along to Echoloop if it were next in the chain. However, Mobius does not seem to hear any audio directed to it from other "Audio To" menus.
So... how to get audio to Mobius in a MIDI track ?
No mention of this case in Mobius manual or online. Genuine esoterica here :D

Fun, getting dirty now. Make sure to activate Monitor Audio Input in
Mobius "Configuration/Global Parameters" and you should be able to
play right through it. And hey - maybe you can take away Mobius once
you've used it to trick Live? (and still keep the virtual audio path)
